MetroFLX Turns Two!

On January 22, Valley Metro’s MetroFLX microtransit service celebrates two years of operation. Launched as a two-year pilot, MetroFLX was designed to provide late-night and weekend transit options when fixed-route bus service ends.

MetroFLX operates Monday through Saturday from 8:45 PM to 12:45 AM and on Sundays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offering the same fare as a regular bus trip. The service has helped riders get to and from work, school, and social activities, and it introduced the first Sunday transit service in the Roanoke Valley in decades.

While ridership started gradually as awareness grew, demand for MetroFLX has increased significantly over time. Based on its strong performance and community response, funding has been secured to continue the service beyond the original pilot period.

Valley Metro appreciates the riders who have used MetroFLX and shared feedback over the past two years. We look forward to continuing to improve and expand transit options to meet the needs of our community.
